Another Nepalese makes us proud!!

          Congratulations to yet another achievement for Nepalese!! The Australian government has announced a prestigious award to a Nepali lady, Miss Indra Ban, for significant contribution in the welfare of the Nepali community in Australia, reports say.

Ban, staying in Australia for over three decades, has been decorated with ‘Order of Australia’, the fifth highest award in Australia for civilians.

          

         Ban was born in Jhapa and went to Australia in 1976 as a student of New South Wales University. She along with her friends formed the first Nepali Students Union in Australia.

Ban is the first Nepali citizen to be decorated with such high award in Australia. The Australian government’s decision to award a lady of Nepali origin the prestigious award is taken as a gesture of importance given by the Australian government to the Nepali community in Australia. Way to go! :)

She joins the hall of fame now with other popular award winners such as Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and actress Nicole Kidman to name a few.
